of Mstera
Born: 1977
Pavel Golovanov, born in 1977, was raised and lives to this day in the city of Mstera. He graduated from the Mstera Art Academy in 1994 where he apprenticed for A. Grachev and V. Molodkin. He uses egg-tempera as the medium for the painting he does. Today he works for a prominent Mstera lacquer box producer. The themes that influence his painting are only the most diversified and challenging. An icon that he painted, "The Virgin Mary of Kazan," is currently on display in a Russian Museum. Other artists such as Vasnetsov, Bilibin, and Kramskoy have influenced his work.
When approaching a new topic to paint he likes to figure out a new way to paint the scene, make it original, and paint in a style that is all his own. An important element in his work is accuracy and liveliness that is portrayed and conveyed in his painting. He considers one of his miniatures done only when the theme and the piece's originality are fully developed.
In his free time Pavel likes to read, work on other sketches, and listen American rock music. To his collectors he sends out thanks and hopes that his art is loved and enjoyed.
